Stack Emission Characterization Testing

OSB Consulting can perform stack emission characterization testing for your facility.   Testing for contaminant emissions such as particulates, metals and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) can be performed from your roof-top vents and stacks via portholes or from the vent or stack exits (if necessary).  Stack emission characterization testing is a relatively quick and inexpensive way of calculating your stack emissions.  Results from our stack characterization testing have generally been accepted by the MOECC for previous ECA (C of A) applications however if Compliance Stack Emissions Testing is required, we have associates that can also perform this type of testing.

Column

  • Testing for particulates is done using a particulates sampling train including 0.3 micron glass fibre filter and heated sampling case and/or impingers to remove moisture for wet applications.

  • Testing for Volatile Organic Compounds is done using a multisorbent tube, individual VOC concentrations as well as the TVOCs concentration are determined.

Column

  • Stack flow rates can be determined by measuring stack velocities using a Kurz mass flow meter.  Velocity measurements are taken at points along traverses in the stack.
